February 11th, 2012     A Beekeeping Basics Class will be held on February 11th in Ina, Illinois (near Mount Vernon) at the Ina Village Hall.  (This class has been relocated to 306 S. Elm St. Ina, IL  due to the need for additional space). The class will run from 9am to 4pm with topics presented by St. Clair Beekeepers members, Tim Lindley, Lonnie Langley, Ken Kloepper, David Dhom and Eleanor Balson, as well as Howard Tanner of  Little Egypt Beekeepers, and Peter Hansen and Mike Gerard, Illinois Apiary Inspectors. There will be refreshments, lunch, door prizes and vendors of equipment present.  The cost of the class if registered by February 1st will be $25 and any profits will be divided between St. Clair Beekeepers Association, Little Egypt Beekeepers, and the new beekeeper's club in Carbondale, which will likely announce it's name at it's meeting on January 13th.  For more information, call Eleanor Balson (510) 285-7879 or email bubblebubb@gmail.com.

February 11th, 2012     The Eastern Missouri Beekeepers Association will hold their Annual beekeeping workshop for beginners and advanced, February 11th, 8:00am to 4:30pm at Maritz in Fenton. Space is limited. Jennifer Berry, Erin Forbes, and Grant Gillard will lead the courses.  The experienced course will place emphasis on spring management, nucleus colonies, queen rearing, mite control, and successful over-wintering.  The beginner course will cover basic beekeeping.  Cost is $75 / person before January 22 and $90 after. February 25th, 2012     On February 25th. from 8 to Noon, Tim Lindley will hold a Beginner Beekeeping Class in Greenville at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1540 E. State Rt. 140. Tim will be sharing the floor with Lonnie Langley and Eleanor Balson. Refreshments will be available, as well as great materials. March 24th, 2012    On March 24th. from 8:00am to Noon, Tim Lindley and Lonnie Langley will hold an Advanced Beekeeping Class in Greenville Illinois at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1540 E. State Rt. 140. Registration from 8:00am to 8:15am. Pre-registration by March 16th is required.  A Farm Visit to Big T's Honeybee Farm 1222 Airport Ave, Greenville will also be held on Saturday April 28th from 10:00AM to noon...
